Mr. Apurva Bhandari holds an MBA in Oil and Gas Management and started his career working with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. He has also worked with a few big IT companies and was on a consulting assignment in the US before he decided to return to India and work for environmental conservation. For this purpose, he even made a non-profit SankalpTaru Foundation.
Apurva has traveled across India and is passionate about giving back to society and Mother Nature. He is a firm believer of sustainable living and has incorporated it into his lifestyle too.
He has encouraged agroforestry in the farmers to not only solve their livelihood issues but also provide a strategy of growing trees in the agricultural land. His determination to convert denuded barren lands to green patches have taken him from the cold desert of Ladakh to the hot desert of Rajasthan, to islands of Brahmaputra to seashores of Mamallapuram and thus created multiple community forests across the country.
He is the founder and CEO of SankalpTaru Foundation which is a tech-based environmental NGO with a mission to increase the Global Green cover. It has planted more than 3.5 million trees across 26 states and UT’s in India. The organization’s projects run across various dimensions of Rural Livelihood Programs, Urban Forestry, Community Plantation, and School-based plantation drives.
Apurva’s interest in technology and innovations pushes the organization to use an intelligent blend of new technologies and traditional knowledge to ensure the highest survival rates and growth of trees.
