Hemal has over 15 years of experience in the automotive, logistics and road traffic segments. He currently
leads CRISIL’s consulting practice for Transport, Logistics & Mobility.
Hemal handles an 18-member team and is responsible for CRISIL’s diverse consultancy offerings across
formulation of short-term and long-term strategies, market opportunity assessment, competitive
benchmarking, road traffic assessment and commercial due diligence to name a few. Hemal also plays a
leading role in CRISIL’s franchise initiatives and represents the organisation in various industry forums.
Hemal has worked on several marquee assignments for the automotive industry. He drafted “Automotive
Mission Plan 2026”, a forward-looking policy document for the automotive industry, jointly with industry
bodies such as Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers
Association of India (ACMA), Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) and Tractor and
Mechanization Association (TMA). He has also worked with several original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs) and component manufacturers in the alternate fuel space. He helps auto players understand how
the powertrain mix across segments is expected to evolve, especially considering the dynamic on-ground
situation with the availability of numerous options such as petrol, diesel, natural gas, hybrids, electric
vehicles (EVs) and fuel cells and evaluate the transition in global geographies.
Hemal is working closely with investors, regulators, and financiers as part of his efforts to boost CRISIL’s
road traffic assessment consultancy services.
With increased interest in investments in warehousing and multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), Hemal is
well placed to evaluate investment opportunities and funding opportunities for financiers.
Hemal started his career with CRISIL and rejoined the organisation after being a part of marquee institutions
such as Tata Motors Ltd. (Commercial Vehicles Business Unit), ICRA Management Consulting Services
Ltd. (IMACS) and Euro Asia Consulting.
