Ria is a product leader in the fintech space, most recently having led the WhatsApp payments team that focused on India. Under her leadership, the product went from a nascent beta to millions of users and she was recognized on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for this work. Helping users of all walks of life gain access to the financial system was fulfilling to say the least; she is now focusing more on the policy side of tech. Prior to WhatsApp, she worked at a US centric fintech startup called Credit Karma, and at Microsoft, where she was one of the early employees of Microsoft Teams. In addition to using tech to break barriers in the financial services space, she is also an avid traveler (93 countries and counting!), a chocolate connoisseur and an amateur stand up comedian (she prefers sit down comedy, though).
